GMAA History

GMAA had its beginning in 1912, when it was known as Greater Miami Elementary School. Classes were held in a tent behind the downtown Temple Church. In 1960 it became a full fledge, four year academy. Today the academy serves a rich and diverse constituency representing over thirty different national backgrounds. GMAA presently occupies a beautiful two story facility at 500 NW 122nd Avenue. We offer K 4 to 12th grade.

Mission Statement

The mission of GMAA is to provide a 7th Day Adventist education for the youth of South Florida in an environment in which they may mature and develop spiritually, intellectually and socially.

Vision Statement

As demonstrated by the unwavering commitment to attract students from various economic levels, academic abilities, racial communities, ethnic and religious backgrounds, Greater Miami Adventist Academy extends beyond the facilitation of academic success to the preparation of students to be of service to the local, national, global, and heavenly community, both during and after their formal education.

Greater Miami Adventist Academy seeks to create an environment in which the youth, from early childhood to young adult are empowered and enabled to create for themselves and specially others a functional, literate, safe, and spiritual community.

Accreditation

GMAA is fully accredited by the Board of Regents of the General Conference of Seventh -Day Adventists, the National Council for Private School Accreditation, and the Florida Association of Academic Non-Public Schools.
